Who We Are
Small Team, Big Impact
We keep our team small so your experience stays personal.
George Chau
PT, DPT, Cert. MDT
Physical Therapist, Clinical Director,
Co-Founder
George is the Clinical Director and co-founder of Philia Physio. His interest in PT was sparked by an ankle injury that led him to a clinic/provider who really cared about his recovery. A Philadelphia native, he received his clinical doctorate of physical therapy at Temple University and spent 7 years at a practice in South Philly working with a culturally and economically diverse patient population. He remains passionate about building relationships and providing exceptional care to patients from all walks of life—hence the name Philia Physio.
George has a strong interest in orthopedic manual therapy and is skilled in joint and soft tissue mobilization, thrust manipulation, and other hands-on techniques for pain modulation and movement enhancement.
A life long learner, he became credentialed in the McKenzie Method (MDT) in 2021, which is a comprehensive system for assessing and treating musculoskeletal pain, particularly in the back and neck, as well as nerve-associated symptoms.
When not in the clinic, you can find him spending time with his wife and two children, serving at his church in Center City, or cheering on his beloved Philly sports teams.
George is conversational in both Mandarin and Cantonese.
Todd O’Leary
PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Co-Founder
Todd is our PTA and co-founder of Philia Physio. He received his degree at Harcum College and has since worked at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Outpatient PT clinics where he gained a wealth of clinical experience treating all types of orthopedic issues. Todd developed a strong interest in the treatment of chronic pain after witnessing first-hand the limitations of traditional approaches in PT that do not account for the complexities of the nervous system. He began focusing his continuing education in the field of pain neuroscience, and utilizes those tactics in his care.
In addition to his interest in chronic pain conditions, Todd also incorporates the use of steel clubs and steel mace into dynamic exercise programs that benefit a wide range of issues from balance to core strength and even swing sport (tennis, pickle ball, padel) optimization.
Outside of the clinic Todd’s interests include a wide range in musical tastes and a more limited range in literary tastes, reading the same philosophy books over and over again on his front porch in nearby East Falls.
